The Thames Valley Park (TVP) Enlivenment Project comprises a series of interventions, each providing a different shared amenity use at the heart of the business park, located within 2 miles of Reading town centre.
In advance of the main projects, as a meanwhile use, an existing security hut is to be repurposed as a Grab And Go Cafe.
The existing security hut is outdated, yet enjoys a prime location at the entrance to the park
Various ideas were explored, all involving an overclad of the existing structure.
1. Reflective eaves 2. Prefabricated panels 3. Cladding rails 4. Existing structure 5. Plinth
A panoramic window overlooks the park approach, and access is via a garden at the rear
The existing hut is elevated for surveillance, which enables high-level views for cafe customers
Later iterations focused on overcladding with stained timber, and opening up glazing to improve views
