Studio Multi is reinventing an industrial shed building for a flexible mix of uses, ranging from science and research to design and fabrication. The beauty of large industrial structures is their ability to accommodate uses that require higher than average floor to ceiling heights and loading requirements. This makes them perfect for light industrial use, and more heavily serviced uses such as laboratories and workshops.
In her previous role at Hawkins\Brown, Nicola Rutt worked on Here East at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the Printworks at Canada Water, London. Both projects are large-scale industrial refurbishment projects providing a long life, loose fit and low energy framework for a broad variety of uses to be accommodated, and to evolve over time.
Current projects develop these ideas, placing emphasis on adaptable spaces, reuse and reinvention, off-site manufacture and designing for disassembly.
We are collaborating with like-minded, progressive designers and engineers to bring these ideas to life.
